Notebooks, pens and leather folders: details that decide quality
Stationery is a corporate gift people use every day. That is also why small quality differences show.
Notebooks
- Cover: leather, bonded leather or a coated board each feel different and wear differently.
- Binding: sewn and bound books lie flat and last; spiral and glued books suit lighter use.
- Paper: check how a pen feels on it and whether ink shows through.
- Extras: an elastic band, a ribbon marker or a pen loop add use.
Pens
A pen is judged by how it writes and how it feels in the hand. Weight, grip and a clean click or twist mechanism matter more than the finish. Engraving on the barrel gives a lasting mark; printing suits lighter items. Test a sample when the pen is the main part of the gift.
Leather and bonded-leather folders
A folio or document holder is opened at the start of every meeting. Bonded leather with a pebbled grain takes a debossed logo well and stitches evenly. Check the stitching, the corners and how the folder stays closed.
Branding
Debossing, foil, engraving or printing each suit different materials. A single, well-placed mark is more refined than several.
